Maintain Personal and Professional Boundaries
This training event will provide the participants with a framework for establishing professional practice approaches in the client/worker relationship. The content will explore and define appropriate boundaries in the client/worker relationship and how to manage related issues of confidentiality, conflict of interest, self as practitioner, isolated workers and rural community service contexts. Participants will consider the ethical and legal expectations and implications of client/worker and worker/worker relationships. Effective approaches to establishing boundaries and ethical approaches are also discussed within the framework of practitioner supervision and professional development.
Specific Learning outcomes:
- Demonstrate awareness of self as practitioner
- Reflect upon own practice
- Demonstrate awareness of impact of values, belief systems and their relationship on the practitioner/client relationship
- Operate within an agreed ethical code of practice
- Identify and utilise self support and supervision systems

Staff Performance Management and Planning
This one day workshop will provide participants with knowledge and skills for implementing major components of managing and supporting performance management systems. This includes day to day coaching and informal feedback, leading to regular performance feedback sessions. Specific interventions associated with under-performance and/or misconduct is also covered.

Effective Time Management
This one day training event will assist workers to consider the issues and factors impacting on effective time management. Many workers are faced with crisis response work or unplanned events in the daily scheme of things. How do we allocate, prioritise and fulfil our responsibilities within systems that are not always flexible with time management options? When was the last time you received supervision, attended professional development, allocated planning time, and/or debriefing time? How do you prioritise tasks when clients are knocking down the door or demanding on the phone?
These questions and more will be answered in this workshop where strategies and tools for effective time management will be presented, and discussed for use in the workplace.
The workshop will be fun, and practical with scenarios relevant to work roles. Specific outcomes:
- Able to implement self planning and prioritising processes in the workplace
- Able to encourage organisational development of effective time management
- Use self reflection process to review and modify time management strategies
- Able to identify the strengths within organisations that will aid effective time management
- Able to use a range of time management strategies and tools and to share these with co workers
Conflict Resolution Skills
This workshop will explore how to:
- Recognise the early signs of conflict
- Distinguish between constructive approaches to conflict resolution vs destructive
- Implement positive strategies for the constructive resolution of conflict
- Understand and apply negotiation processes
- Identify different behavioural styles and ways to accommodate these differences in conflict resolution
- Develop safe responses to aggressive behaviours
Mediation Skills
More and more, mediation is being recognised as a valuable intervention strategy for resolving conflict in workplaces, relationships and communities. There are some conflicts, which may not be able to be resolved without a third 'neutral' party to guide the process of communication and resolution. Mediators take people through a process which enables each party to present their issues, explore the issues with each other and focus on negotiating agreements to resolve conflicts. Mediation = WIN/WIN!
This fast-paced two day workshop uses theory, group discussion and interactive role plays to give participants a comprehensive introduction to the concepts and practical application of mediation skills.
Participants will be able to:
- Define mediation as a third party intervention in conflicts
- Assess suitability of disputes for mediation
- Introduce the mediation process to parties in dispute
- Facilitate the 7 step mediation process
- Appropriately encourage parties to negotiate
- Document mediation agreements
- Provide follow up mediation where required
- Manage difficulties that may arise in the mediation process
Communication Skills
This one day workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to identify their existing strengths in applying communication skills in the workplace. Participants will also consider the areas for further development and practice strategies for enhancing their communication skills with colleagues and others.

Industrial Relations
this workshop will provide managers, team leaders and those responsible for the day to day management of industrial relations policies and procedures with clarification of related contemporary issues. Explore the impact of recent changes to Industrial Relations Legislation for your organisation and workplace relations. The workshop provides opportunities for identifying necessary changes to policy and procedures related to industrial issues in the community services sector. Participants will be encouraged to examine their current industrial relation practices with reference to legislative requirements.

Self Care
This workshop will provide participants with knowledge and skills for recognising practices, habits and attitudes that result in poor practitioner self-care. Once these have been identified, participants will explore a range of strategies to take responsibility for significantly improving their self-care capacity.

- Increased awareness of stressors in the workplace
- Strategies to implement to improve self care
- Utilise existing systems to support the sustainability of self care strategies
- Understanding self care and conflicts of organisational culture
People Management
This workshop will provide participants with knowledge and skills for implementing appropriate people management processes and structures to maximise work outcomes. Community services work attracts people with a diverse range of skills, knowledge, experience, philosophy and culture. Effective management of such diversity in an often highly stressful work environment requires high-level people management skills. Training will provide managers with practical strategies for addressing these people management challenges through active learning processes, real workplace examples and demonstrations.

This program will provide managers and team leaders with the knowledge and skills development required to enhance their leadership abilities in both the internal and external environment in which they operate. Through practical application through exercises and case studies, participants will have the opportunity to fine tune their skills and apply the skills development directly to the workplace. This program aims to provide the opportunity for participants to identify their own leadership strengths, styles and areas for development. A leadership development plan would ensure participants continue to reflect on and refine their development in the workplace.
