About the program and qualification
This qualification covers workers who develop and facilitate programs for young people through a range of community based programs designed to address the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people.
This work may be undertaken through employment in community, government and welfare agencies and worker will be:
- Responsible for implementing policies and guidelines of the employing organisation
- Largely self directed with fairly autonomous decision-making capacity under the indirect supervision of a manager.
This option may best suit the inexperienced youth worker. For example, this person may have little knowledge or skills in the area of youth work but is seeking a new career pathway or wanting to value-add to other skill areas.
Assessment only
This option may best suit someone who has some or all of the knowledge and skills of a youth worker but perhaps has had a gap in their practice as a youth worker, therefore currency of skills may need to be demonstrated through assessment.
Recognition Assessment
(Previously known as RPL - Recognised Prior Learning or RCC - Recognised Current Competence)
Recognition Assessment is always offered as a first option for potential participants in this program. We need to determine what you already know and can do, before we discuss the best option for you to gain the qualification.
When you enrol with GTP, our friendly training staff will discuss all of the above options with you.
